What is the importance of pre-colonial literature in relation to our lives as fathians

The culture that we have is shaped by the things that surround us in our everyday life. Each
country has its own culture that has been cultivated by their respective ancestors up until today.
Preserving our culture, specifically the Filipino culture, is something that all Filipinos should take
seriously since this is what differentiates us from all the other countries in the world. There are a lot of
basis which our culture relies on such as language, fashion, cuisine, beliefs, writings, and many more.
One of the most common basis of culture that is slowly fading away because of the overpowering
influence of foreign culture, is our pre-colonial literature.

Pre-Colonial Literature is something that most of us are familiar with but the younger
generations might not be able to recognize it or may just forget about it after being talked about in
school. Before the Philippines underwent colonization, we already had a culture of our own and a
literature unlike any other. Folk tales, poems, epics, chants of our Filipino ancestors have been passed
down by word of mouth and that method might not be the best one to preserve our pre-colonial
literature because it might be forgotten compared if they written and recorded. As Fathians, we must
continue studying our Pre-Colonial literature and share them with other people since our literature also
stand as our identity.

Since our literature also serve as our identity as stated in the previous paragraph, we as
Fathians, should continue the tradition of passing them by word of mouth as well as write them down in
order for us to easily record them and avoid the possibility of them being forgotten. Like the importance
we put on in studying the Word of God as Fathians, we must also put importance on the literature that
made our country unique compared to the other countries that surround us.
