Intro:

Cell Transport is the movement of materials across the cell membrane. Cell Transport are categorize into
two, the Active Transport and the Pasive Transport where active transport is the movemnent across
membrane with the aid of carrier protein and energy supplied by the cell a d passive transport is like
active transport but it does not requires energy.

Objectives:

1. To undrestand the functional role of the Cell Membrane in cell survival.

2. To understand the basic mechanisms by which biological molecules and water are transported with
living organisms.

3. To relate the concepts of diffusion and osmosis to the requirements of plant and animal cell.

4. To appreciate how cells maintain homeostasis through osmosis and why it is important.

Hypothesis:
1. Cell Membrane protects the other parts of the cell. It serves as the gate of the cell.

2. There are 5 types of basic mechanisms which is the Simple Diffusion, Facilitated Diffusion, Osmosis,
Endocytosis, and the Exocytosis that biological molecules and water are transported with living
organisms.

3. The diffusion is the spreading of elements from one part of an area to the whole area while osmosis is
the process which liquid pass through the wall of a living cell.

4. We need to maintain the regular number of water in our body for us to be healthy. It is called
hemeostasis.

Methodology:

Materials :

Potato, Salt, Eggs, Vinegar, Transparent Cups.

Procedure:

Observe the egg that is covered with vinegar inside the cup for three days.

Observe the sliced potato covered with water and salt in the cup for a day.
Results and Discussions:

1. The Cell Membrane is also known as the Plasma Membrane, it surrounds the cell and seperates the
cytoplasm from its environment. It serves as the policeman of the cell because it filters all the material
that is going to enter the entire cell and keep-out the bad bacterias.

2. Water are transported in different ways. There are some basic mechanisms that describes how water
are transported. The first one is diffusion, diffusioin is the spreading of elements from one area to
another, and under diffusion, you can see the Simple and Facilitated where Simple Diffusion describes
solutes are moved along a concentration gradient in a solution and Facilitated Diffusion is the same as
the Simple Diffusion but it does not need high-energy molecules. Osmosis is the movement of water
across the cell membrane from higher concentration to lower concentration. Endocytosis is the process
which substances are ingested and then pinches off from the rest of the membrane so it is enclosed in a
vesicle while Exocytosis is the opposite of Endocytosis.

3. Diffusion and Osmosis are both Passive Transport. Animal and Plant Cell needs this two for them to
control the number of water entering to them.

4. The cell helps other cells to maintain the equal number of water in our body so we will not be
dehydrated nor it may cause hydrocepalus. It is what we call Homeostasis.
Conclusion:

I therefore conclude that Cell Transport is simply the crossing of materials in cell membrane and contains
two types which is the Active Transport and Passive Transport. They are both the same, because it is the
movement across cell membrane from lower concentration to higher concentration but in Passive
Transport, it does not require energy to proceed.
