ABOUT
These vintage phonograph records span the decades from the 1920s to the 1980s.
Included in them are selections considered as classical, light classical, popular,
and indigenous. These aural expressions of the Filipino soul encapsulated in vinyl
reminds listeners not only of the artists thoughts, joys, and sorrows, but also of
the socio-political views which they held through the years.
Himig Collection celebrates the ingenuity and creative genius of Filipino musicians
through the 20th century. Through it, the Filipinas Heritage Library aims to
promote wider appreciation of our local music traditions, making the music from
these prized records readily available to the public for research and personal
enjoyment.
Come and enjoy the Himig Collection at the Filipinas Heritage Library!
