THE CITY TOUR MANIZALES

TOUR GOAL

Good planning and management are fundamental to the success of any event. And essential
points, functions and arrangements are important to stablish in order to assist an event with 500
visitors.

TARGET

My country was visited by 20 foreign tourist guides, who want to know about the different places
in Manizales. They are going to stay 3 nights and 3 days.

INVESTIGATION OF THE TERRITORY

Manizales is a city of just over half a million people in the Department of Caldas. It is a city of lots
of hills, small roads, and nice people. Years ago, it was known for being rainy and foggy all the
time, sitting at about 70 degrees Fahrenheit (21 degrees Celsius) or less. However, blame it on
whatever you’d like (global warming) but, it’s gotten warmer and brighter. You will, however,
want to pack a light jacket. The city is part of the Coffee region (Caldas, Risaralda, Quindío) and
stands at about 7,152 feet (2,180 meters) above sea level. It has always been a very Catholic,
conservative city. It is full of beautiful churches, and people’s clothing and hairstyles tend to be
very similar.

THE MAIN TOUR OBJECTS

1. DAY ONE. CITY TOUR IN MANIZALES (Complex Thought, The Cathedral and The Polish
Corridor, and Juan Valdez Coffee shop)

Receiving at the airport "La Nubia" in Manizales at 8 am., we will transfer to the hotel "El
Carretero" and have special breakfast from the coffee region. Then we will visit El Recinto de
Pensamiento . This is an ecological park that offers a walking tour to see various types of nature,
such as a herb garden, butterfly garden, hummingbird area, and orchid forest. Very beautiful and a
great place for taking nature photos. Next we will have luch in a typical restaurant.

In the afternoon, we will visit the Cathedral, in Parque Bolívar, it is a trip all its own. The park itself
is pretty big, with lots of activity going on, and the mayor’s office situated across from the large
temple. The inside, as with any Cathedral, is a sight to behold. But, the best part is the top called
“El Corredor Polaco” or, The Polish Corridor, from where you can see almost the whole city.
Across the entrance to El Corredor, the elevator in the Cathedral will take you to a café with a view
of the entire park. The café itself isn’t noteworthy, but the site is perfect. After that, we will have
a delicious coffee in Juan Valdéz coffee shop.
2. DAY TWO. SNOW MOUNTAIN PARK

We will take a tour in the Snow Mountain Park. Parque Los Nevados is one of the few places in
Colombia where you can find snow. You hike along snow-peaked mountains and at the top are hot
springs.

3. DAY THREE. HOT SPRINGS "EL OTOÑO"

We will move to hot springs "El Otoño" at 8 am. It takes us about 30 minutes from Manizales.
Here we will find multiple hot springs that you can experience while in Manizales, but this one is
the most natural. This is also a hotel-convention center. We will have breakfast and lunch there.
Then drive back to the hotel and transfer to the airport.
