EMERGENCY TROLLEY DAILY CHECKLIST

Defibrillator (zoll R series) - MUST BE WORKING AND READY TO USE
• Ensure ‘one step’ pads attached and ‘green tick’ is displayed
• Ensure casing & cables are clean and intact
Suction (Laerdal Suction Unit) - MUST BE WORKING READY TO USE
• Ensure ‘serres’ liner is correctly inserted and connected
• Switch on and occlude suction tubing to generate suction power >500mmHg
• Perform & record monthly ‘user test’ (WR4912)
Emergency trolley - General
• Ensure trolley cover is in place and clean
• Remove additional equipment not listed on the standard equipment list (WR4913)
except local specialist exceptions
• Ensure IV pole, sharps box, and suction catheters in rack are available as detailed.
• Ensure a full CD size portable oxygen supply is available & working
Drawer one - cirulation
• Ensure consumables present as detailed
Drawer two - defibrillation
• Ensure consumables present as detailed
Drawer three - paediatric
• Ensure consumables present as detailed
Drawer four - Universal precautions
Ensure consumables present as detailed
Drawer five - basic airway
• Ensure consumables present as detailed
Drawer six - Supa glottic airway
Ensure consumables present as detailed
Drawer seven - Intubation
Ensure consumables present as detailed
• Laryngoscope blade must remain sealed inside their packaging
• Laryngoscope handles must have batteries inserted. Wearing gloves, depress the fibre-
optic bulb in the handle head to ensure it is working. Replace handle in packaging -
sign checklist to confirm handle is unused.
Drawer eight - documentation
• Ensure consumables present as detailed
Emergency drug box
• Ensure tamper evident seal is intact and that drug box is in date
General cleanliness
• Ensure trolley and equipment cover are clean & dust free
• Ensure all equipment ‘in date’ where applicable.Where no expiry date is given,
packing should be dated with date supplied to the trolley and kept for 2 years
