War On Drugs

I. Introduction

Power is exercised through the body in a dark way of humiliation

and violence. Duterte’s violent war on drugs; I argue that, under
the Duterte administration, criminals are humiliated and killed in
a spectacle of violence that warns their lives, sending a message
that intimidates others and creates a warning. In the process, law-
abiding citizens are meant to feel safe, which is seen as likely to
increase the newly elected president’s popularity and his power as
chief executive. Duterte has thereby formed a politicised path, not
only putting criminals outside the benefit of protection but
actively targeting them one by one. Duterte is the first mayor and
president to have actively targeted criminals and, in doing so has
encouraged other politicians to follow his example.

II. Presentation & Critical Analysis of Data

“War on Drugs” uses the hypnotized impact of humiliation and violence

designed to caught criminals and to convince the ordinary citizen that
they can feel protected. By doing so, he believes netizens will most
likely favor him enhance the power of the presidency. Duterte’s
message in his war on drugs is clear, criminals can be killed in order
to protect law abiding Filipinos. Duterte has been very explicit in
saying that the lives of drug dealers, pushers, users and criminals
have no value because there is no place for them here being a human.

However, the killing of criminals in police operations, public spaces

and within their homes make Duterte’s threats very real, giving a
warning that those who might, violate the law. The killing of supposed
criminals and labelling their bodies that indicates they are criminals
is an objectification of the body, as a vehicle to carry political
messages. In the war on drugs, this is done first, by official
releasing of names in a listt of drug dealers, users and criminals,
and revealing their names in public. Second, those who have been
killed already, and as those relatives left behind, they do place
placards identifying them as criminals who deserved to have been
killed.

III. Conclusion

Duterte’s message on drug on war inidicates that there were no

exemption whether it was a pusher or only an ordinary citizen that
is innocent but is still in the scene. However, the way of handling
his proposed platform is also similar on how he handles Davao, the
region where he formally ruled before. If people in Davao were able
to execute his reign before without a shed of blood coming out from
any citizens, therefore he can still do it just the way he handles
the
Philippines if he still can reciprocate what he did before.
