What were the main results of revolution of

1688?

The Revolution of 1688 was one of the most important events in the history of
England, during which King James II was replaced in the throne by Mary, who was his
daughter, married to William the Orange. This historical event had several effects of
which some remain until today.

One of these effects is that this revolution contributed to the transformation of Britain
into a constitutional monarchy. This means that the power of the King was limited as
the Parliament assumed many governmental responsibilities, so they were more
powerful. This effect remains until today as Great Britain is a constitutional monarchy
nowadays.

From this division, the rule of law was founded. This rule was based on protecting the
rights of the people: happiness, liberty, equality, security, and property. The latter
allowed economic improvements as safety encouraged people to invest.

Another important consequence of the revolution of 1688 was the Act of Toleration
of 1688, which consisted of toleration to Nonconformist Protestants. They were able
to have their own schoolteachers and their own places of worship. Romans Catholics,
nontrinitarians and atheist were intentionally not contemplated in this Act.

As a conclusion, we can observe that some of the main consequences of the

Revolution of 1688 can be seen until today as the constitutional monarchy. In addition,
after this event, the government provided rights to people and it was more open-
minded about other beliefs.
