Double Bass hardrock exercises

( audio - tablature )

Hardrock :
The Hardrock style is characterized for being very dinamic and fast.
The use of Double Bass in Hardrock is very frequent and used to create rapid energetic
rhythms through fast movements of the feet.
The notation of the feet :
(R) = right foot / (L) = left foot
The following exercises are played on bassdrum, hihat and snare drum.
The hihat should be played with constant eight notes.
The snare falls on beats 2 and 3.

Ex. 1 ) : To begin dominating the double bass you can begin with a sequence of 4
repeated alternate strokes ( sixteenth notes ), play eight notes on hihat.

Ex. 2 ) : Play a continuos flow of sixteenth notes on the bassdrum, play a basic eightnote
beat on snare and hihat.

Ex. 5 ) : Replace the Hihat by ride cymbal.


Count : 1- 2 - 3 - 4, play sixteenth note variations on the bassdrum.
