Retrieved titles and abstracts will be reviewed by the study authors.

To confirm that the inclusion and

exclusion criteria will be met, a full text review will be performed on the selected articles . All
randomized controlled trials that examined the effects of delaying the introduction of solid food in
children beyond four to six months in the development of allergic reactions or sensitizations will be
considered eligible for inclusion. Studies with participants whose ages range from 2-6 years old will be
included. RCTs between the year 2010 and 2018 only which included defined and comparable outcome
measures, particularly the Quality of Life Questionnaire will be included. Studies with mixed populations
where individual outcomes could not be extracted were excluded. No studies were excluded based on
the gender of the participants.

Each included study was evaluated with the Cochrane Collaboration's Risk of Bias Tool to assess the
quality of included researches.

Table 8.5.a: The Cochrane Collaboration’s tool for assessing risk of bias

Studies that will meet all the criteria (i.e. low for each domain) are considered of good quality. If one
criterion is not met (i.e. high risk of bias for one domain) or two criteria are unclear it is considered fair
quality. If there are two or more criteria listed as high or unclear risk of bias, it will be considered of poor
quality. Those considered to be of good quality will be included.
