PKM MACHINE GUN

WEAPON CLEARING
PROCEDURES

Weapon is Cleared After Being Fired

or When Changing Hands.
Keep Weapon Pointed
in a Safe Direction At All Times
1. Point PKM in a safe direction.
2. Place Firing Selector on AUTO (Forward Position).
3. Pull Cocking Handle to rear. Bolt should lock to the
rear.
4. Return Cocking Handle to the Forward Position.
5. Place Firing Selector on SAFE (Pointed toward rear
of weapon).
6. Depress Feed Tray Cover Release Button.
7. Lift Feed Tray cover.
8. Lift Belt Out of the Feed Tray.
9. If present, remove cartridge from Feed Gripper
10. Observe for rounds in chamber Verify chamber is
clear.
11. Place Firing Selector on AUTO.

12. Pull and hold Cocking Handle to rear, pull trigger and
ease bolt forward.
13. Close Feed Tray Cover.
14. Place Firing Selector on SAFE.

CAUTION:
The PKM Fires from the Open-Bolt
Ø The PKM fires from the open-bolt position for better
cooling and to prevent cook-offs.
Ø If the action is jammed, hold the charging handle
firmly rearward while opening the feed cover. If the
bolt releases the weapon may fire. Once the cover
is opened the bolt should lock to the rear.
