ABSTRACT

Philippines is one of the most populous and disaster-prone countries in the

world. Philippines is exposed to floods and earthquakes and the risk of other

disasters such as drought, landslides and tsunamis is increasing. The purpose of

this study is to find out how prepared and aware students of Sultan Kudarat State

University- Laboratory High School (SHS) and college students when it comes to

floods and earthquakes. As the study is proven to be a success, the study can be

usd by the following groups such as the government, teachers, students, schools,

parents and as a basis of the Future Researchers

The data tabulated were analyzed using the mean, frequency count and

percentage distribution. Through this, the researchers found out that the

respondents aren’t still aware of floods occurrence. Their level of preparedness

and awareness when it comes to flood is good. While the level of preparedness

and awareness of the students in earthquake is relevantly higher than the level

acquired in floods.

While there is a momentum in the sphere of earthquake in the preparedness

and awareness in the country, there is a room for improvement in the awareness

of raising and training on the preparedness for the school. A streamlined

coordinated preparedness and awareness raising program for earthquake.

Preparedness in schools is the need of hour. Parents/Guardian. Should discuss

proactively with school authorities to ensure preparedness measures are

implemented and in place.
