Over the years I barely pondered the kind of student I really am besides the basics of

paying attention and in overall getting good grades. For example, I never put much thought into

how I read, which I knew I read fast but as a result I have to reread certain parts in order to fully

understand as a result. Which actually is very helpful over reading slower because it means I am

fully able to grasp the material of writing. As well as when I’m writing, I prefer less structure

and will write whatever thought is in mind and then go back to correct any errors. This helps me

analyze the piece better rather than overthink the prompt or writing in a way that may slow me

down. As a learner, I’m very visual and tactile. I tend to overthink auditory instruction which

results in me feeling lost on the kind of work I should do. Such as in math where I must see how

a problem is done in order to successfully do it myself. In contrast to hearing the teacher explain

and then sending me to do it by myself.

Despite my like for reading and writing, I want to do better to read and write more

outside of class for leisure. I’ve recently felt like I only read new books outside of class when it’s

during the school year and not during long breaks. When I should be reading no matter the time,

so hopefully I will feel more of an appreciation than I felt before. As someone who is very

introverted, surprisingly I really enjoy discussions about books and any topic in general.

Especially socratics, since I constantly have passionate opinions, mainly because they give me an

adrenaline rush. Hopefully I can try to get through them this year without feeling like I want to

argue with someone over a different opinion.
