ABSTRACT

This study was undertaken to identify the pricing strategies of sari-sari stores of

Barangay San Jose, Pili, Camarines Sur and to suggest solution or recommendation to

the future sari-sari store owners. There are three (3) respondents included in this

study. These three stores are established and legally operating having business permit,

mayor’s permit for at least two(2) to five(5) years and they had their own market

share in their areas.

In order to gather data, the pricing strategies of sari-sari stores were gathered

through interview. The content of the interview was based on the statement of the

problem of the study, through this the researchers will be able to determine the

pricing strategies of sari-sari stores and how it affects the income of the business.

Using interview, the researchers have been able to identify the pricing strategies used

by sari-sari store owners and how it affects the flow of income of the store.

Based on results and objective of the study the following recommendations are

suggested:

First, there must be a feasibility study. Also, sari-sari store’s goods usually cost a

little more than their supermarket counterparts since your customers are also paying

for convenience. On the other hand, try not to set too high a price on your stuff,

especially if you’re competing with existing stores in the area. But if your location is

somewhere where access to groceries and other stuff is kind of difficult, then you can

somehow adjust the price to a higher amount for the “convenience” you’re offering.

And if your competitors have the same pricing strategies as yours, try to focus on
others business aspects such as excellent customer service. Another important thing

that needs to be considered was the owner’s personal qualities. He must have the

industry, the perseverance and convincing power to thrive in this line of business.
