TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN
Miss Rebecca Vester
Rebecca commenced her teaching career at Bunbury Cathedral Grammar School at the beginning of
Term 1, 2019, as a recent graduate, in the position of a Year 1 teacher. This was a one year contract
covering @ permanent staff member who had been granted 12 months unpaid leave. Although this was
Rebecca's first teaching position, she came across as a competent, passionate and caring individual
during our interview process.
With high expectations at Bunbury Cathedral Grammar School and very involved parents within our Early
Childhood Centre, there was always going to be significant pressure on Rebecca 2s an individual with
limited experience. Rebecca has risen to every challenge and, in the process, has gained a great deal of
respect from her students, parents and BCGS staff.
Rebecca has embraced her role with incredible positivity, energy and determination. She has
demonstrated a great level of organisation within her classroom, and found a wonderful balance between
academic outcomes, and learning through play and engaging social experiences.
‘As a School, we value Positive Education, a Growth Mindset and Cultures of Thinking to maximise
enjoyment of school and engagement of our students. Rebecca has embraced these values, frequently
referring to individuals’ ‘character strengths’ and utilising @ variety of thinking routines within her
Classroom to enhance a deeper level of learning.
Her willingness to give that title bit more is frequently demonstrated; she has been involved in coaching
both @ basketball and hockey team, organised a class trip to SciTech, and been thoroughly engaged
during our various carnivals and events throughout this yeer. Rebecca has also been involved with
boarding duties, requiring a time commitment on various evenings and weekends.
In conjunction with her mentor teacher, Rebecca is seeking to complete the journey from Graduate to
Proficient Teacher in a single year and appears to have this well in hand - a significant undertaking! This
has involved weekly meetings with her mentor, trips to Perth for related professional development and a
considerable extra workload. She actively seeks advice from teachers and management staff, and
welcomes all feedback
Rebecca has impressed her peers, her students and our Grammar parents; she has been a wonderful fit
for us within Primary and | have no hesitation in highly recommending Rebecca for any Early Childhood
position.
I wish her all the best, wherever her teaching may take her. Were a suitable position to become available
at BCGS, Rebecca would be given the strongest consideration. | would be happy to provide further
CI Id You require.
