“Ok, so what I would like to show you is a demonstration of thought reading, rather than mind reading and it is very important that I
mention the differences between the two.

The reason for this is two-fold. Firstly, I don’t want you walking away with the wrong impression about what it is that I can or can’t
do. Secondly, if I ask you to create a thought in your mind, it is imperative that you do actually do this for me. Unless you create
some thoughts in your mind, I have nothing to read, does that make sense?

So, what I would like you to do now, is to think of a playing card, but please don’t pick the Ace of Spades or the Lucky Sevens because
everyone goes for those. Instead, I would like you to think of a card that is unique to you!…Do you have a card in mind?…

Now hypothetically speaking, if I could read your mind, I would simply be able to look you in the eye and tell you exactly what card
you are thinking of. I would say it was a red card, a Diamond, the King of Diamonds, and if I was right then you would
understandably be very impressed, but later, you would probably just reason that this was nothing more than lucky guesswork.

Incidentally, if you were indeed thinking of a red card, a Diamond or a King, then I would like you to change your card completely, as
I don’t want you to think that I am relying on your body language in any way and I want this to be as fair as possible.”
