Final Action

Add 2 mL furfural to 100 mL alcohol. Thoroughly mix 0.1 mL of

this solution with 10 mL HCl and 10 mL sample by shaking in test
tube 15 s. Let mixture stand 10 min, observe color, add 10 mL H2O,
shake, and again observe color. If crimson color disappears, sesame
oil is absent. (As furfural gives violet tint with HCl, it is necessary
to use the very dilute solution specified.)
