LS-DYNA

LS-DYNA is a general-purpose, nonlinear finite element analysis software used to

analyze the nonlinear dynamic response of three-dimensional inelastic structures.
Its fully automated contact analysis capability and error-checking features have
enabled users worldwide to solve successfully many complex crash and forming
problems. Livermore Software Technology Corporation (LSTC) develops sophisticated
tools for modeling and simulating the large deformation behavior of structures.
These tools include LS-DYNA for analysis, LS-POST for post-processing which are
interfaced with leading CAD, FEA, and FEM systems. LSTC and its distributors offer
consulting, training, and development services. In addition, a network of third-
party
engineering companies also provide consulting services using LSTC software and
customized pre- and post-processing interfaces to in-house programs.

The current LS-DYNA PC versions are bundled with an integrated pre- ,post- and
graph-processor from Engineering Technology Associates, Inc. (ETA). The files
of the Theory, Examples, and User's Manuals are included in the software package
along with a reader for on-line viewing.

Performance testing of LS-DYNA on a Pentium 2 indicates that execution speeds are

faster than many mid-range workstations. Performance testing on the Pentium 3
machines and the Pentium 4 machines is even better, challenging the high-range
workstation capabilites. These execution speeds are faster than many mid-range
workstations.

LS-DYNA for a personal computer (Pentium, Pentium Pro, Pentium 2, Pentium

3 or 4 compatibles) will need either the Windows XP or Windows 2K/NT/98/95
operating system with a minimum configuration of 64 MByte RAM, 3 GByte hard drive,
CD-ROM drive, network card, 4 MByte video card with an SVGA monitor that is
capable of handling a resolution of 800 x 600. We recommend that you purchase
the best system that is within your budget. In general, we prefer our systems
to be using Windows XP/2K with a higher configuration of 1024 Mbyte RAM, 20 to 80
Gbyte hard drive and 32 MByte video card with a monitor of 1024 x 768 x 64K.

A multi-processor workstation or server with Windows XP/2K/NT installed is required

to use the LS-DYNA parallel versions.

All LS-DYNA Documentation is supplied in PDF Format which can be displayed with
the Adobe Acrobat Reader. If you did not installed Adobe Acrobat Reader, you
can get one free from Adobe at www.adobe.com.

You will need about 95-120 Mbyte of space to install the whole LS-DYNA package.
