I. VOCABULARY
1. Emission (n) /iˈmɪʃn/: the act of sending out gas, heat, light, etc.. (sự phát ra ánh
sáng, sự toả ra khí, hơi)
Examples:
According to a research from WHO, the emission from car exhausts causes more
deaths than road accidents.
(Theo nghiên cứu Tổ chức y tế thế giới (WHO), việc khói xe thải ra gây ra nhiều cái chết
hơn là các tai nạn giao thông.)
Living greenly and healthily is more than just eating well and keeping the control
of exhaust gas emission.
(Việc sống thân thiện với môi trường và lành
mạnh thì nhiều hơn thế, không chỉ là ăn uống đúng mực và duy trì sự kiểm soát sự phát
thải khí thải.)
6. Threat (n) /θret/: a suggestion that something unpleasant or violent will happen,
especially if a particular action or order is not followed (sự đe doa, mối đe doạ)
Examples:
Invasive insects are growing threat to trees.
(Côn trùng xâm nhập đang tăng mối đe dọa cho cây trồng.)
The railway is under threat of closure.
(Đường sắt đang bị đe dọa phải ngừng hoạt động.)
1. Waste your breath: to say something that nobody takes any notice of (phí lời)
Examples:
Don't waste your breath arguing with him.
(Đừng có phí thời gian tranh cãi với nó, không thắng được nó đâu.)
They won't listen, so don' t waste your breath telling them.
(Chúng sẽ không nghe đâu, vì vậy đừng có phí lời khuyên bảo chúng nữa.)
2. In the nature of things: in the way that things usually happen (theo lẽ thường
tình)
Examples:
It is in the nature of things that they become
extreme.
(Họ trở nên cực đoan là lẽ thường tình.)
In the nature of things, people who have power don't like losing it.
(Việc những người có quyền lực không bao giờ muốn đánh mất nó là lẽ thường tình.)
III. STRUCTURE
S + put (more) effort into + something/doing something: Ai đó nỗ lực (nhiều hơn)
để làm gì
Example:
We must put more effort into advertising.
(Chúng ta phải nỗ lực nhiều hơn vào quảng cáo.)
I 'm sure your son will put more effort in studying if he knows that you had all this
mapped out for him some fifteen years ago.
(Tôi tin rằng con ông sẽ nỗ lực học tập nhiều hơn nếu cháu biết rằng ông đã hoạch định
chuyện học hành cho cháu từ khoảng 15 năm trước.)
