How to teach a child to ride a cycle

Riding a tricycle is an all-time fun activity that most kids enjoy. Mostly Tricycle riding is not
tought by parents, by seeing itself kids starts self learning to ride.
A bicycle is great for your child's coordination and muscle strength. Brilliant way of spending
some time with your nearest and dearest is teaching to riding a cycle. If children see other kids
riding, they’ll get some sort of idea about riding a cycle.

1. Buy a suitable size cycle

Most children will be ready to learn between 3 to 5 years of age. Make sure you buy the right
size don’t put them on a cycle that’s too big in the hope they will grow.
If your child is very scared of falling, help them by putting training wheels on his/her cycle, so
that child can practice pedalling without the fear of falling

2. Choose a suitable area

First choose play area or grassy area or fairly flat tarmac surface that has plenty of space so
the child can roam around, and of course away from traffic. Later, pick a spot that has a gentle
slope to help your child practice going up and down.

3. First support the child efforts

First hold the saddle and handlebars, while child starts to rides. This will support from
cycle leans due to lack of knowledge about rider’s weight balancing.

After two days, it’s best to stand behind the cycle and support them with your hands, so
they’ve got complete control of the bike.

4. Let them go and stay ready to catch

Run behind them, so you can guide and help them to respond to leaning and to take U turn.
Teach them to brake the cycle in street. They’ll usually brake effectively, but forget to put their
feet down — so be ready to catch!

It will take a few practice goes before they hangout. Soon they will be riding without you
running behind them. But remember that every child’s different and the point at which they’re
ready to ride varies.

Above all, relax! This should be an enjoyable experience for everyone to cultivate a
lifelong love for cycling. Riding with your children is one of the best things you can do as a parent.
It brings you closer to them and you got a bond you can't imagine. If I will have a kid someday, I'll
probably do this to her/him.
