As the years passed, technology has created advances to the
lives of people which frankly children have become very accustomed in using in their daily lives. Gadgets and different social medias have all been created over time to make our lives easier and more efficiently. The effect that technology has on our children has brought on some concerns and some praises. It becomes alarming because children nowadays have no choice but being influenced by the growing social media in front of our eyes. The bold example of it is the usage of Facebook by the young children and it is alarming not just for the parents but also for the society.
Many of them have been engaged to this social media without
knowing that it slowly killing them. I believe that kids under twelve years old shouldn`t have Facebook accounts yet they don`t have enough experience to use that website and at the same time the mind of the children are full of innocence and they are not fully aware on how to socialize from other people. In this early age they might experience the case of Cyber bullying because it is a typical type of online harassment and I do believe cyber bullying must be stopped. This is a violation of private rights and it can destroy someone`s life.
According to the National Crime Victimization Survey Data, an
estimated of 2.2 million of the students has experienced cyber bullying in 2011 and it`s really alarming because it can cause depression, lose their self-esteems and which usually causes of suicide. Aside from that, it can also cause distractions for their studies like if they have assignments or homeworks they usually check their Facebook accounts first instead of doing their priorities.
In that young age they must focus on their studies than to be
active on social media. Some of the youth nowadays they usually choose or focus on social media to become famous or just to be in trend. It must be a calling for the parent`s out there to guide all your loved ones and most especially, your child could avoid the bad effects of having a Facebook. Lastly, prevention is better than cure. People should start realizing that the power is in their hands to prevent the early usage and exposure of the children to the dangerous effects of social medias to them. Let us be the guide of the children for them to be on the right track in fulfilling the brightest futures ahead of them.
