It has been a great experience for me to see a strong teacher become even
stronger. This a testament to someone who has passion and cares about
the profession and perhaps more importantly the students in her charge.
I observed Emily teach Science, Math and Social studies to a grade 4 class
of approximately 25 students. Without doubt Emily has developed a
passion and gift for teaching. She is thoroughly prepared for her classes
and was able to implement various strategies within each lesson that
reflected the learning needs of her students. I was most impressed with
lessons that she had prepared and units that she had prepared that were
incredibly creative that would ultimately lead to a high level of student
engagement. They were engaged and I was engaged. She became very
competent in pacing her lessons and made positive changes when
necessary.
Emily has a very quiet and warm personality and her rapport with students
and teachers is excellent. She developed some strong relationships with
students that enhanced trust and a strong sense of caring. She has
become confident in her teaching and is engaged in developing a solid
knowledge base for curriculum. Through her strengths she continues to
look for ways to improve. Her passion for what she wants to accomplish as
a teacher is intuitive and indicates someone who cares. She is strong in her
reflections of her experiences in this practicum on a daily basis.
Emily has displayed many outstanding personal and professional qualities.
She has successfully demonstrated an awareness of the needs of every
student. I was also quite impressed with her ability to use positive
discipline and manage interactions that could have been difficult.
Emily is a very strong working team member. The next part of her journey
in education will prove to be rewarding. She is already a very capable
teacher and, in the future, will be an asset to any school. I am excited
about her future and the gift she will bring to the students she teaches.
Sincerely,
