How is the pencil making process?

The pencil making process starts taking a block of wood which is split,
usually cedar, is divided into splints to which slits are made to place the
mines.

Cedar is usually used?

yes it is. because the cedar is easy to work and has a good price.
glue is applied in the furrows of the slats always, the graphite mines are
placed in one of them and another slat is placed on top, this process is
called, sandwich.
It takes few minutes for the glue dries,and then another machine is
responsible for making slits on both sides of the slat where the pencils are
separated.
When the pencils are already separated, they are painted, varnished and
then the brand of the product is registered, the model and a number that
indicates the hardness of the mine.

why is important to indicate the hardness of the mine?

The hardness of the mine is indicated for the customer knows what use give
to the pencil.
As a last step, one of the ends of the pencil is sharpened and the other is
rounded or an eraser is attached by a metal clamp.
