Sible’s Model of Curriculum Development

Sible’s Model is using technology to support curriculum development. Technology has
transformed our day-today lives, the way we work and study, and how we spend our
leisure time. It has an important part to play in the design and development of the
curriculum and has the potential to give learners an enjoyable, engaging, challenging
and motivating experience of learning, raising achievement and improving learning
outcomes.
Technology has the greatest impact on curriculum development when schools and
colleges:
 involve teachers at all levels in the change, providing development opportunities
and giving teachers the opportunity to experiment and develop their expertise,
and enhance their own methods of teaching with technology
 involve learners in deciding how technology can best support their learning
 have a well-managed and robust technical infrastructure for using technology to
enhance, enrich and extend the curriculum.

Analysis
Identifies the learning problem, the goals and objectives, existing knowledge, and any
other relevant characteristics. Analysis also considers a learning environment, any
constraints, the delivery options, and the timeline for the curriculum.

Design
Is a systematic process of specifying learning objectives. Detailed storyboard and
prototypes are often made, graphic design, user-interface and content are determined
here.

Implementation
During implementation, the plan is put into action and a procedure for training the
learner and teacher is developed. Materials are delivered or distributed to the student
group. After delivery, the effectiveness of the training materials is evaluated.

Evaluation
It is a dynamic process which allows people to obtain and judge the worth of data about
how students learn specific content information under varying instructional condition.
