Anchor Points – Ongoing Assignment

Throughout this course you will be responsible for reading and learning much of
the content on your own from the textbook. This is the nature and reality of how
courses operate in college. You must take responsibility for your own learning.

In an effort to assist you in this endeavor, you will complete an “Anchor Points”
notebook. For each time period (4 time periods covered in the course) you will
receive an anchor points page for the vocabulary terms, events, people, or places
that you will be responsible for completing with the use of the textbook. Keep
them in order and keep your notebook organized. You should not use your anchor
points notebook for anything other than anchor points!

*For each anchor point, complete the following in a few sentences:

- What was it?
- What caused it?
- What did it lead to?
- Themes/Connections across time/space (think about course themes!)

A few examples are provided for you, but you do not have to follow the
same format. Feel free to vary your format throughout your notebook if
desired. Each anchor point should be approximately one page in length.
Never put multiple anchor points on the same page.

Though these will count as a major homework grade, they are

ultimately for your benefit as they will assist greatly when review time
comes – Don’t cheat yourself!
