environment is a reality we must make compatible with sustainable development The

occupation of territory by the big infrastructures and the effect that have on the environment
the construction and operation of the means of transport, roads, railways, airports or ports, is
a reality that involves a great disquiet for all citizens, although sometimes the environmental
sensibility is carried out in a demagogic way. It is necessary to make compatible the demand
from the current society of the construction of more and better roads with the exigencies
derived from the respect to environmental interests as one of the necessary premises of the
sustainable development. The Environmental Impact Declarations, efficient tools to protect
the Environment The Environmental Impact Declaration, included by Law to the projects and
loyally accepted by every people who participate on the realization of road infrastructures,
with the application of the necessary correcting measures, are the efficient tolls for the
protection of the environment facing the possible aggressions of works, technically
uncontrolled until then. The Spanish Road Association supports the existent normative and is
always in a position to collaborate for its improvement or to participate on the debates that its
