In what ways can leaders build a positive culture that helps everyone
develop their skills for this century?
Humor is something good leaders should take seriously. Humor tells us about
someone’s timing, judgment, terms of reference, intelligence, confidence and
whether they’re likely to be fun to work with. The latter is important in skills
development. All competence follows preference. It’s much harder to train
people if they hate what they’re learning and who they’re working with.
Leaders often like to think they’re the smartest person in the room, but the
true role of a leader is to make everyone else feel that they’re the smartest
person in the room. ‘What do you think?’ are the four most powerful words in a
leader’s armory.

manage and communicate.
It’s not self-regarding for current generations to recognize that some of the results are
novel, even unprecedented.

historic social changes unleashed by Information Age technology. He acknowledges
ongoing evolution in leadership, management, and communications.
Serve to Lead argues that fundamental change in leadership dynamics is well underway.
Now, in our time of astonishing potential for individual empowerment, Everyone Can
