CHƯƠNG TRÌNH HOẠT ĐỘNG NGOẠI KHÓA TỔ DU LỊCH

TÓM TẮT:
- Tổng số hoạt động ngoại khóa: 03, bao gồm 01 tour tham quan học tập và 03
seminars với khách mời diễn giả (chủ đề seminar 1 về Quản trị nhà hàng, chủ đề
seminar 2 về(xxx), chủ đề seminar 3 về(xxx))
- Thời gian dự kiến tổ chức hoạt động: tour tham quan học tập (11/10 – 13/10, 3
ngày), seminar 1 (xxx), seminar 2 (xxx), seminar 3 (xxx)
- Tổng số sinh viên tham gia hoạt động: tour tham quan học tập (khoảng 30 sinh

CHI TIẾT CÁC HOẠT ĐỘNG:
1. Tour tham quan học tập:
- Đối tượng sinh viên tham gia: lớp TR16 và các khóa khác đang học các môn
Sustainable Tourism, Tour Guiding Skill, FBM, TEM
- Mục đích tour: 1) giúp cho sinh viên trải nghiệm các hoạt động và dịch vụ du lịch,
trao đổi và giao lưu với cán bộ quản lý Nhà nước, nhân viên kinh doanh dịch vụ
du lịch, khách du lịch và cộng đồng địa phương tại điểm đến; 2) Áp dụng các kiến
thức đã học vào giải quyết các vấn đề thực tiễn; 3) Làm bài tập lớn môn học.
- Nhiệm vụ của các nhóm sinh viên (xem đề cương bài tập nhóm bên dưới – bằng
tiếng Anh).
- Chương trình tour (dự kiến):
o Ngày 1 (11/10): 16:30 xuất phát từ HN đi Cát Bà (nếu các sinh viên tham
gia không xin phép nghỉ học được). Đến đảo Cát Bà, nhận phòng nghỉ, tự
do ăn tối và nghỉ ngơi.
o Ngày 2 (12/10): 08:00 sau khi ăn sáng xe đưa đến Trung tâm du lịch sinh
thái và giáo dục môi trường để nghe thuyết trình về hoạt động DLST tại
VGQ Cát Bà. Giao lưu trao đổi với nhân viên của Trung Tâm. Trải nghiệm
tuyết đi bộ dã ngoại TT vườn – đỉnh Ngự Lâm. 12:00 ăn trưa. Buổi chiều
các nhóm đi phỏng vấn khách du lịch, phỏng vấn khách sạn nhà hàng, họp
với cộng đồng người dân địa phương… 19:00 – gala dinner.
o Ngày 3 (13/11): 08:00 sau ki ăn sáng xe đưa đoàn ra bến tàu tại cảng Cái
Bèo để đi thăm vịnh Lan Hạ. Nghe thuyết trình về hoạt động tàu thủy du
 lịch trên vịnh Lan Hạ. Tham quan đảo nơi bảo tồn loài vooc đặc hữu quí
hiếm của Cát Bà. Tham quan các làng chài nuôi trồng thủy sản trên vịnh.
Phỏng vấn khách du lịch và người dân địa phương. 13:00 tàu về cảng và xe
đưa đoàn đi ăn trưa tại nhà hàng địa phương. Tự do mua sắm tại thị trấn.
16:00 xe rời đảo đưa đòn về HN. Kết thúc tour.
The students will work in a team of 5 – 6 persons (04 teams in total). The team will be formed
by the subject lecturer in the first lecture. The team leader (assigned by the group themselves)
will be the focal point, having a regular contact with the subject lecturer. Each team will work
on a different sustainable tourism initiative in the destination as follows:
1. Carry out a secondary research and an in-depth interview on sustainability practices
by the local accommodation sector. Sample size of min 10. Propose solutions to
promote their sustainability practices in the destination.
2. Carry out a secondary research and an in-depth interview on sustainability practices
by the local tourist transportation and travel sector. Sample size of min 10. Propose
solutions to promote their sustainability practices in the destination.
3. Carry out a secondary research and an in-depth interview on sustainability practices
by the local food and beverage sector. Sample size of min 10. Propose solutions to
promote their sustainability practices in the destination.
4. Carry out a secondary research and an in-depth interview on sustainability practices
by the local tourist souvenir and commercial sector. Sample size of min 10. Propose
solutions to promote their sustainability practices in the destination.

The group has to make the presentation about the project outcomes no later than the due date.
The final report must be prepared in both English and Vietnamese languages and submit to
the lecturer within a week after the last presentation day (20/11/2019).
The suggested research methods:
- Search for available information about sustainability operational practices in the
selected sector in a specific tourism destination (e.g. Hanoi, Ha Long, Da Nang, Hoi
An, HCM City, etc.);
- Find contacts in the selected sector in the destination who are willing to share with
you your knowledge, information and advices;
- Make the final decision on selection of the business organizations and the destination
based on available information and informants as mentioned above.
 - Cary out desk research on sustainable tourism operational practices (i.e. 10 R
framework; key aspects like waste management, saving and renewable energies,
water conservation, biodiversity preservation, Corporate Social Responsibility, etc.);
- Prepare open-ended questions for the in-depth interview with contact persons from
the sector based on your knowledge acquired by the textbooks, the lectures and the
desk research; Refer to the provided format for the information needs;
- Determine and invite the interviewees to participate in the survey; set appointment;
- Prepare the interviewees (can send the questionnaire in advance);
- Conduct the interview; record the answer if possible;
- Summarize the findings from the interview;
- Write up the case based on the provided format as below.

Tour Guiding Skills – Fieldtrip Requirements

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:
Conduct research beforehand on Hai Phong city, and Cat Ba island
Study beforehand the site and the whole province
Conduct on-site research.
Observe tours which are being conducted by other tour guides at the destination.
Practice guiding with your friends wherever and whenever appropriate.
ON THE BUS:

 Each student prepares a commentary of 15 minutes in length about a chosen topic. The topic
can be anything you have studied in the first two lectures. Below are the examples of the topics
that you may think of (, and that are not restricted to).
 You may need to address more than one topic and/or have more than one theme in your
commentary.
 Present a commentary in front of your friends, who will act as tourists and who could interrupt
and ask questions during and at the end of the commentary.

ON SITE:
Each student practices guiding with a friend/or a group of friends on sub-sites on the island
(the national park, island, ecotourism center, Lan Ha bay, fishing village, etc.), and:
 Delivering the prepared scripted commentary on tour to a real or simulated tour group
 Applying planned interpretive techniques and presentation strategies as part of the
tour/commentary
 Using equipment to assist in delivering the commentary.
 Encouraging questions from people
 Demonstrating positive orientation to questions being answered
 Providing accurate, relevant, comprehensive and current information in response to
questions
 Integrating questions asked into the overall presentation of the scripted tour
commentary
 Involving the group in the answers given to questions, as appropriate
 Handling questions which cannot be answered in a courteous and professional manner
 Makings arrangements for follow-up of questions after the tour which cannot be
answered on the tour
 Interact and interview local people and tourists wherever/whenever possible
AFTER-TOUR REPORT SUBMISSION:
Each student writes a 1000-word report about the tour components, providing proof on:

 What you have guided on site

 Activities you have done together during the tour
 Interpersonal, communication and group management skills you have deployed, or should
deploy
 Management/owners of the businesses on the island
 Personal experience you have attained after the tour
Two types of papers need to be submitted to me after the tour:
 A 1000-word report
 An on-bus tour commentary about a topic of your choice
