ODE TO DAD
It is your 41st anniversary today
Though your life holds sway
What can I to fate say
In Ghana today
Politicians do power plays
With Pastors who do not pray
Why did you not stay
To hold sway

I look everywhere but you are not

God made you a foundational rock
So that Your struggles will not rot
I look in the mirror of my inner self
And there you Are
I look in my heart and soul
And you come alive
Standing stalwart Against oppression
Blazing trails
With high ideals, Still.
And I think, Wow.
How You poured out your life with zeal
How you served and you suffered for Real
Each his brother’s keeper your big deal
But Ghana's axis spins on lawless wheels
And corruption reels in high heels
For politicians do not realy feel?

It is your anniversary today dear dad

In Ghana today
Political allies do surely benefit?
Is Your country decrepit?
Progress in Retrogress?
True democracy Derelict?
And your legacy in Retrofit?

It is your anniversary today dear Dad.

You are nowhere to be found
Except in my heart I hear your sound
Your True legacy will be found
In my prayers Wounds heal around
