The concept of driverless cars will be the next big leap in the automobile industry.

Nowadays there is a lot of R&D going on in the field of driverless cars. I think the market
for advanced driver assistance systems & autonomous vehicle is going to grow rapidly for the
next decade or so. Mobileye already established a strong foothold in this segment, supplying
its camera & sensor technology to a large number of major automakers. According to Intel
CEO, this acquisition is akin to marrying the “eyes” and the “brain” of autonomous cars. Many
of these driverless vehicles, will require immense computing power, including the latest
microchips able to crunch reams of data in seconds to keep the cars safe, and on the road. Intel
can use its chips to make the cars It is not uncommon for big companies to seek growth outside
their core business. Given the market projections for autonomous cars, I think this is a great
acquisition that will make Intel one of the largest vendors offering end-to-end solution to
automakers.
