a= SOUTHERN COPPER SOUTHERN P a MR. OSCAR GONZALEZ ROCHA Mr. Oscar Gonzalez Rocha was born in Mexico. He is a civil engineer by profession and a business man with over 36 years of experience in the mining industry. During his professional career, Mr. Gonzalez Rocha has held different positions with construction companies and has participated in large hydraulic dam projects, as well as in important hydroelectric projects in Mexico and in the United States. Since 1976 Mr. Oscar Gonzalez Rocha has been working in the mining industry. As Director General of Mexicana de Cobre S.A. de C.V. and Mexicana de Cananea S.A. de C.V., both wholly-owned by Grupo Mexico S.A.B. de C.V., he was in charge of developing the “La Caridad” and "Cananea” metallurgic projects in Sonora, Mexico until November 1999. In late 1999, Grupo Mexico acquired ASARCO Incorporated, the majority owner of Southern Peru Copper Corporation, a Delaware corporation with integrated mining operations in Mexico and Peru and explorations in Peru, Chile, Ecuador and Argentina. In December 1999, Mr. Oscar Gonzalez Rocha was appointed President, Chief Operating Officer and Director of Souther Copper Corporation. Since 2002, he has been a Director of Grupo Mexico. In October 2004, Mr. Gonzalez Rocha was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of Southern Copper Corporation. Mr. Gonzalez Rocha has been the Chief Executive Officer and a director of Asarco LLC, an integrated US copper producer, and an affiliate of Southern Copper Corporation, since August 2010. Mr. Oscar Gonzalez Rocha has been: > Chairman of the American Institute of Mining Engineers (AIME), Tucson, Arizona. He is the first Mexican citizen to have been elected to that position. > President of the Mining Association in Sonora, Mexico. He is presently a Member of the Board of the International Copper Association (ICA).
