Technology is supposed to solve our problems, but sometimes it just complicates them.

Write about a time when technology made your life more difficult.

In this decade, there have a lot of definition about technology. But it depends to people
how they describe what is technology and what technology that made their life become easier or
difficult. Technology is human knowledge which involves tools, materials and systems. For me
technology is a knowledge that used to produce a new things or products that never had seen
before. Technology is also application of knowledge that helps to solve problems. In our daily
life, we almost use technology to make our work smooth and fast.

In our lives, we always apply technology in almost every task. For example, we use
technology to solve problems at work, we use it to boil water, and cook an instant food. Besides,
we use also technology for communication to connect each other in order to deliver news or
important information. Technology was also apply in transportation sector such people use train
to move from one place to another place. Learning session in school or university use also
technology likes computer, laptop, projector, and others to make sure that learning effectively. If
technology is well applied, it can benefit humans, but if it is wrongly applied, it can affect our
lives.

Technology will make our lives more difficult when we almost depend on it.
Unconsciously, technology has created a digital divide between generations which is X’s
generation and Y’s generation. Seniors did not have any digital technology during their growth.
The situation has makes their lives difficult to learn how to use it now and be able to take
advantage of it. Even though they have computer access at home or work, most of them don’t
know how to use it properly and clearly. They may have to take a long time for a lesson about
digital technology and also take time to apply in their challenge lives. It has also created a digital
divide between developed countries, making undeveloped countries that do not have access to
technology poorer. For example, we can see the different of technology development in America
and Africa. In America, they have a complete advance technology compare to Africa that have a
poor technology. This situation will affect a development of people to success in their carrier and
of course may make their life more difficult.

Besides, technology makes also our lives more difficult when there have a technology in
manufacturing. When we talk about manufacturing, automatically it involves all factories that
produce their own brands. As we know, the factories will release toxic waste resulting from the
manufacturing process of their products through the flue, into the river and to the site of illegal

dumping. This will have an impact on many people, including civilians and children that active
playing. Most of today's factories built near residential areas and rivers. When a factory emitting
smoke through the funnel emissions, it will affect children who going out to play in evening. This
is because the antibodies children are still weak compared with adults. Therefore, children are
more susceptible to disease threats. As we all know through reading and observation, factory
smoke released contains carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, sulfur dioxide and dust. Therefore,
the child will be exposed fatal diseases such as cataracts, fever, colds, skin diseases, asthma
and others. Next, technology will make our lives more difficult when it is difficult to get raw foods
such as fresh river fish, shrimp, squid, crab and others. This thing caused by factories that
discharge waste into the river. They do it because they want to save the cost of toxic waste
management. When toxic waste discharged into the river water, waste that contains materials
such as oil will cover layer of water. This situation will cause the gas exchange of oxygen and
carbon dioxide not occurs. Aquatic life cannot stay alive for a long time and it will make their
body not fresh. Algae will grow rapidly at a time retard the process of gas exchange. It will
impact our lives when we difficult to get fresh fish. In addition, our bodies will be exposed to the
disease when taking food that is not fresh and bad.

In addition, the technology will make our lives more difficult when communication
technology itself is troubling us. Communication technology includes the use of mobile phones,
smart phones, tablets, laptops, internet usage, and emails. Indeed all the gadgets that are
beneficial and convenient to us, but the invention also can make our lives more difficult. For
example, an entrepreneur wants to do business online using e-mail or social networking sites.
The problem is when the electricity goes off or blackout and the situation is troublesome
entrepreneurs who use wifi to open and send e-mail to customers. Their business processes
maybe cancel by client because the client does not receive immediate feedback from suppliers.
Besides, communication technology will trouble us when we are in an emergency or distress.
For example, we were unable to contact the hospital to help family members who having an
accident when the cell phone battery runs out or coverage network in problems. This situation
may cause a death of person who we loves one.

 In conclusion, every creature has its benefits and disadvantages. We as consumers
need to be wise in choosing invention that can help managing everyday life and activity. Any
technology that is created is not perfect and we need to think a suitable alternative for the
shortage. This is because we should not rely solely on an invention because it will fade in self
independence. We should avoid from technology that can be harmful to health as walk far from
the side of the road that have dirty air from motor vehicles.
