Learning Objective: Students will learn to identify the parts of the egg.
Students will observe the composition of the egg parts.

Materials:

fresh eggs

saucers or petri dishes

colored pencils or markers

Learning Process:

What are the parts of an egg?


Students will label and color the parts of an egg on a blank egg
worksheet (see example). They can visit the listed websites, or use their
Home Economics textbooks as well as any other available textbooks to
find out the location of each part of the egg.
1. Chalazae(Anchor)
2. Yolk
3. Egg white (Albumen)
4. Inner membrane (skin)
5. Outer membrane (skin)
6. Air space
7. Shell

Look at an egg

Show students how to effectively crack a fresh egg into a saucer.


Students will locate all the parts listed on the diagram provided in the
worksheet.
Homework: write a paragraph on the role of each part of the egg and
draw, label and color their own diagram.

Evaluation: Students will be evaluated on thoroughness of work, correct labels, and


engagement on the tasks.
