Are they really ready?

The difference between the school and the workplace can constitute an
abyss itself. Newly graduates encountered themselves with a huge
challenge that, in the majority of cases, it is not what they were taught
to face.

On one hand, the students are not taught to be productive, which is a

must to have a good performance in any job. Students have a high
change of success by only following the rules they are demanded to.
While, in a work environment, sometimes you have to bend the rules in
order to get better results. The participation of the employers by
helping to adapt teaching materials is necessary. This will improve
students’ skills to face a real work environment.

On the other hand, students are not taught to choose between different
options. Since it is necessary to have a guideline, pupils are taught to
follow a unique path in order to solve different problems. Nevertheless,
this guideline should only be at the beginning of the learning process
and should not be extended further. It is common to see a math or a
language test with only one possible answer to each item. That is why
the focus should be on the developing of math and language skills
regarding problem solution. Students should be provided with more
options.

To adapt the teaching material is a starting point so the students can

increase their math and language skills with a wide variety of examples.

Finally, we should study and asses every change that is made in order to
get better improvements in the future.
