1. Lemongrass or citronella was purchased to use as a pure, natural
and safe insecticide.
2. The chopped lemongrass or citronella was put in a boiling water for
30 minutes to release its energy.
3. ½ cup of citronella oil and ½ cup of rosemary oil were put in a
container, while ¼ cup of liquid hand soap, ½ cup of distilled water
or 1/8 cup of rubbing alcohol were put in a separate container.
4. The citronella oil and rosemary oil were diluted in rubbing alcohol or
distilled water.
5. Both the mixtures were poured into a single container for easy
applications.
6. The citronella oil was mixed with other types of natural oils such as
eucalyptus oil and rosemary oil to create an even stronger
insecticide.
7. A few drops of citronella oil were added to the liquid hand soap until
its scent started to dominate the scent of the product.
8. All the mixtures were combined together as was put inside a spray
bottle.
 For the Experiment
1. Two identical plants were prepared and labeled. One was labeled
with “Natural Insecticide” the other with “Other Insecticide”.
2. Both the plants were situated in the same environment.
3. The identical plants were given the same amount of water and
exposure to sunlight that was needed to keep the plants healthy.
4. The plant that was labeled with “Natural Insecticide” was sprayed
with the citronella insecticide and the other with a store-bought
insecticide.
5. The identical plants were observed for a period of time for the results
and findings.
