Bringing the design team out of their comfort zone is often one
of the largest implementation challenges. To get started, only a
small part of the software’s available functionality was applied to
get over the acceptance hurdle. Our designers and engineers
were exposed to the solution in a test lab situation based on a
portion of a project we had previously completed. We provided
training labs, and by the end of the exercise, they produced
deliverables through SPEL.
One of the major benefits is that the product is fully supported
by a trusted company like Intergraph. This gives us confidence
that the product will be sustained into the future. As we look
to future activities, we plan to expand the range of deliver-
ables from SPEL. We have goals to interface with SmartPlant
Instrumentation, SmartPlant Materials, and Intergraph Smart™
3D to further increase the relational exchange of data.
