Sketch Up

architectural, interior design, landscape architecture, civil and mechanical engineering.

Sketch Up tools and its uses

Selection Tool – Select entities to modify with other tools or commands.


Eraser Tool – Erase, soften or smooth entities in the model.
Line Tool – Draw edges from point to point.
Free Hand Tool – Draw free hand lines by clicking and dragging.
Arc Tool – Draw arcs from center and two points
2 Point Arc Tool – Draw arcs from point to point with bulge.
3 Point Arc Tool – Draw arcs through 3 points on the arc circumference.
Pie Tool – Draw enclosed arcs from center and two points.
Rectangle Tool – Draw rectangular faces from corner to corner.
Rotated Rectangle Tool – Draw rectangular face from three corners.
Circle Tool – Draw circles from center point to radius.
Polygon Tool – Draw N-sided polygons from center point to radius.
Push and pull Tool – extrudes face entities to sculpt 3D models.
Follow me – Follow a path with a selected face.
Offset Tool – Offset selected edges in a plane.
Move Tool – Move, Stretch, copy and array selected entities.
Rotate Tool – Rotate, stretch, copy and array selected entities about an axis.
Scale Tool – Scale and stretch selected entities.
Tape Measure – Measure distances, create guide lines or points, or scale the entire model.
Protractor – Measures angles and creates guides.
Text Tool – draw text labels.
Paint Bucket Tool – Apply color and material to entities in the model.
Orbit Tool – Navigate the camera view about the model.
Pan Tool – Pan the camera view vertically or horizontally.
Zoom Tool – Zoom the camera view in or out.
Zoom Extent Tool – Zoom the camera view in or out to show the entire model.
3D Text – Creates 3D text
Axes – More or reorient the axes.
