Distortion Energy Theorem

Distortion Energy Theorem or von-mises theorem is commonly used to test the

yield strength of a beam the equation is

𝜎′ = √𝜎𝑥 + 3𝜏𝑥𝑦

The 𝜎𝒗 obtained must be lower than the Yield strength of a material used which is
AISI 1040 in this case we will use Cold Drawn since it gives us better yield strength
which is 71 kpsi
