REACTION PAPER
BTS “FIRE”

I think "fire" is symbolic of being dangerous because "playing with fire" is like being a
rebel. I think the music video symbolizes trying to keep your youth and rejecting adulthood
because in the beginning you can see them all standing behind a fence that says "youth" and
when suga jumps over, he is "leaving youth behind" and that guy in the black symbolizes
adulthood that why he lights "adulthood" on fire because they want to stay "YOUNG
FOREVER" which is the name of the album.
Suga, Jin, Rapmon, Jhope, Jimin, Jungkook, V, All
When I wake up in my room I have nothing Hey, burn it up
Once the sun goes down, I stumble Like you want to burn it all
So completely drunk, drunk Hey, turn it up
Cursing around on the street, street Until the dawn breaks
I’m out of my mind, like an insane person It’s okay to just live We’re still young
It’s all a mess, livin’ like beep Who do you think you are to say otherwise
Stop comparing, I’m just me (So what)
Just live how you want Your life is yours
Don’t try so hard It’s alright to lose Just live how you want Your life is yours
Errbody say La la la la la (La la la la la) Don’t try so hard It’s alright to lose
Say la la la la la (La la la la la) Errbody say La la la la la (La la la la la)
Put your hands up and shout Burn it up Say la la la la la (La la la la la)
Burning up Put your hands up and shout Burn it up
Burning up
Burn it all Bow wow wow
Burn it all Bow wow wow Burn it all Bow wow wow
Burn it all Bow wow wow
Burn it all Bow wow wow
(Fire) The scared, this way
(Fire) The miserable, this way Fire Fire, burn it all Bow wow wow

BTS FIRE MV THEORY

MV Fire tell us about how all member facing the adulthood.

In the beginning we heard DOPE song which means FIRE and DOPE are connected. DOPE is
about their story after gain success and FIRE tell how all member facing a world full of problem.

Suga jumps over the fence that say YOUTH means they leave their youth to adulthood.
Someone with black hooded and Suga shakes hand with him that means Suga agrees to become
adult. And someone who wear black hooded represents haters or problem, so he must
burn/destroy it if want to be successful. Suga wears headset represents he avoid negative talk. It’s
despite on lyric of FIRE “Just live how you want. Your life is yours. Don’t try so hard. Its alright
to be loser".
Black colour symbolizes negative thing. Black also means emotional and rebellious youth. And
fire symbolizes against from the negative thing, because of that everything burn with fire has
black colour.

Jungkook look at burning bicycle is the same scene with the Lost River film by Ryan Gosling.
We also can see “Lost River” word on the door behind Jungkook. And this is a review from the
burning bicycle scene in the Lost River film: “After searching for copper, Bones sees a bicycle on
fire roll by. It is an image that only exists in film but it makes clear the dangerous world that
Gosling is trying to capture”. So a bike that burned in MV FIRE may also describe the same thing
as in the movie Lost River, which is a symbol of a dangerous world. And the dangerous world
means in FIRE MV is that we cant easily to achieve success because the world is full of test.
Charred cars that suddenly fell in front of them means problem can suddenly blocked their way
anytime.

V looks busy playing video games alone maybe describe the world is not as easy as in a video
game. Or maybe describe V side who still like a child because V is a figure of Peter Pan.

Jimin look at burned airplane that related to Epilogue when they choose to go to Neverland. This
described them had left Neverland and choose to grow into an adult. (Pic 7)

YOUTH text on the fence who burned describe that they have left their youth. (Pic 8)

The building that caught fire after they came out, it could be place where they partied in the
previous scene. That means they have to leave youth which full of pleasure and being focus to
achieve success.
When Suga say “I’ll forgive you” might describe that he forgives the haters who tried to block
their path to success.

And the last one is the sentence “Boy Meets What” at the end of the video. We know, “Boy Meets
Girl” are common slogan but they are trying to change with replacing the word Girl into What, so
we can determine our purpose in life without having pegged by perspectives that exist in society.

Well, in HYYH series Bangtan boys trying to convey a message to us to pursue our dreams and
achieve success by being ourselves. They
also advised that we have to do what we want and don’t hear negative talk from people or haters.
Dream, Hope, and Keep Going.

SONG
This is one intense song. The beginning immediately pulls you in with the strong chant of “Fire”
backed up by an energetic instrumental. The entire ending is such a burst of life and is the perfect
ending to such an epic song.
BTS has always been perfect at flawlessly mixing rap and singing, and this song is yet another
example of that. I love that they switched things up with this song and had a portion of Rap
Monster and J-Hope rapping together in the second set of verses.
I am docking the score because I find the bridge to disrupt the flow of the song. The instrumental
behind Jin’s filtered voice gets a little too boyband for this type of song.
****
BTS has established itself as one of the more popular bands. Legions of stans pushed the MV for
"Fire" to over four million views in under a day, and the song itself achieved an "all kill." As of
this writing, the MV has a staggering 11 million views! But does it really live up to the hype?

The song is awesome. I couldn't get into their previous single 'Epilogue: Young Forever,' but this
tune blew me away. The big-noise synths that power the tune are a particular love of mine, used
in Big Bang's "Bang Bang Bang" and "Zero For Conduct" by BASTARZ, etc. And the breaks are
a nice touch. Everyone's on point here, with Rap Monster and J-Hope on the
raps, Jungkook and V on the chorus, and the rest of the boys, as well. It's got a great hook,
too: "Burn it all up -- bow wow wow."

If I thought I was familiar with BTS' style, this exceeded my expectations. Obviously, the
question I asked in the beginning is academic; you've doubtless formed your own opinions about
it. And, like everything, it's based on your biases. But still, this track pumped me up. At the risk
of sounding redundant, this song is 'fire.'

**
Very few artists can get away with the sort of non-chorus hype track that I so often complain
about in my reviews. Bigbang pulled it off with last year’s Bang Bang Bang, and BTS certainly
did with the awesome Dope. Now, Bangtan is back with what feels like Dope‘s spiritual
successor, in the form of Fire.
As BTS become increasingly more mature and melodic in their musical output, tracks
like Fire remind us that they started life as a hip-hop group. I love that we can enjoy both
sides of them now, and that even their party tracks have a sense of heightened musical
maturity. Fire has little in the way of melody, but it’s the rare case where that doesn’t matter.
This time around, it’s all about the beat. And instead of a flimsy, isolated sample, Fire‘s
centerpiece hits like a semi truck. It’s an example of a song in this genre actually paying off
on its build-up, particularly in its final moments, where the kick moves (thrillingly) to double
time and the guys explode in a very Bigbang-esque chant. There are no moments where
the track lags or the energy dips, and thank god for that.
Though the track is undoubtedly built around its sledgehammer instrumental hook, there’s
some incredibly funky electronic elements underpinning the hip-hop verses, giving the song
a slinky syncopation. The melodic bridge does a nice job offering a more blissed
out counterpoint to the hard hitting chaos around it (and giving the vocal line something to
do). I would, of course, love a more unique vocal hook in the chorus, but what’s here works
just fine, even if it amounts to more of a catchphrase than an actual refrain. For a hype
track, it’s got my hyped. And what more can you really ask for?
