 Are done on a flat surface, such as piece of drawing paper or a canvas possessing only
height and width, but no depth.

Drawing
- To pull, push or drag a marking tool across a surface to leave a line or mark.

Purposes of Drawing:

* as a personal notation, sketch, or record of something seen, remembered, or


imagined

* as a study for another, usually larger and more complex work


such as a sculpture, a building, a film, a painting - or another drawing

* as an end in itself, a complete work of art.


Mediums of Drawing
Dry Media:

> Pencil
> Charcoal
> Crayon
> Paste
Wet Media:

> Pen and Ink


> Brush and Wash
Painting
 Drawing with paint. Drawing and painting are closely related. The long history of
painting, the strong appeal of color, and the endless image-making possibilities
explain painting’s popularity.

Paints consist of three components:

Pigment - provides color.

Binder - mixes with the pigment to hold the pigment particles


together without dissolving them and to attach the pigment to a surface.

Vehicle - spreads the pigment.

Printmaking
 A work of art made by inking a surface with a raised design and pressing it onto paper
or another surface.
Printmaking Techniques

Relief Printing - woodcut, linocut, wood engravings, rubber stamping.

Intaglio - etching, dry point, engraving, collographic printing.

Lithography - planographic printing.

Serigraphy - silk-screen, screen printing, stencil printing.

Graphic Design

Graphic Design - refers to the process of working with words and pictures to create solutions
to problems of visual communication.
Typography - is the art and technique of composing printed material from letterforms
(typefaces or fonts).

Illustration - is a picture or decoration created to enhance the appearance of written material


or to clarify its meaning.
