I scrunch in pain

Life’s hard, they say

Though this I know
Still sting it does
So let me cry
Try as I might
I cannot smile
Not now, not yet
If this, my gloom
Dampens your sun
Or weak you find
Patience, I beg
Your strength’s not mine
And should my sobs
To you they reach
From ear to heart
The throbbing hurt
Would then seem less
For the pain I bear
Is the lonesome kind
