Parent Letter September 3 2019
Parent Letter September 3 2019
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
Welcome to Second Grade. My name is Merry Ostheimer and I am happy to be your
child’s teacher.
This week I’ll be sending home forms in your child’s “Take Home Folder.” Some are
for you to keep. Others need to be signed and returned to school. Please check your
child’s folder every day throughout the year and make sure that they bring it to school
each morning.
Look for Homework packets the last day of each week, starting next week. They
are usually due back the last day of the next week. Your child will also receive occasional
assignments during the week that I may ask them to return as soon as they can. Please do
not stress out about homework. If your child can’t complete homework on time, I’ll accept
it late.
Students may bring in a small, healthy snack. We have to snack while we’re working,
so please keep it simple and neat. Grapes, pretzels or crackers make a great snack. Please
don’t send a snack that requires spoons or forks. Also, remind your child that snack is not
the time to eat their lunch.
We will continue to focus on the PBS expectations of being Prepared, Positive and
Productive this year. But we will also be incorporating the Seven Habits of Happy Kids in
our classroom. Finally, we will be using Class Dojo this year. This app lets you track how
your child is getting on in class. Look for an invitation to join the app soon if you haven’t
already.
My email address is meredith.ostheimer@christina.k12.de.us I check my emails
each day before the students arrive and after they leave for the day. I rarely have a
chance to check emails during the school day. So, if you need to contact me during the
day, especially about dismissals, please call the office. That number is 302-454-2290 and
leave a message with Mrs. Cameron.
My website is https://mrsostheimer.weebly.com/ Please visit it and check out the
various buttons that take you quickly on learning adventures to fabulous sites such as Epic,
National Geographic, Dreambox, and Code.org!
I look forward to a great year!
Thank you,
Merry Ostheimer
