ABSTRACT

The Relationship of MCH Book Ownership with the Level of Knowledge of Pregnant Women About the
Signs of Pregnancy Danger in the Mojo Health Center in Kediri Regency

The use of the Maternal and Child Health book (MCH) is a strategy of community empowerment
especially families to maintain their health and obtain quality maternal and child health services. The
MCH book as stated in the Decree of the Minister of Health no. 284 / Menkes / SK / III / 2004 regarding
the MCH book has several uses, among others, as a guideline owned by mothers and children which
contains information and health records of mothers and children, and also the MCH book functions as
one the only means of recording maternal and child health, in addition to that the content of the MCH
book also functions as a health or learning extension tool, and a health communication tool. One of the
contents of the MCH book is about the danger signals to pregnant women. Knowledge about pregnancy
danger signs is important to be known by the public, especially pregnant women. This study aims to
determine the relationship of MCH book ownership with the level of knowledge of pregnant women
about the danger signs of pregnancy in the health center of Mojo, Kediri Regency. The research design
used was cross sectional by using one group pretest design research design. Sampling was done by non-
random sampling using accidental sampling techniques and obtained data of 32 respondents. Data
collection using a questionnaire. Data were analyzed using the Spearman test to determine the
relationship of MCH book ownership with the level of knowledge of pregnant women about pregnancy
danger signs. The Spearman test results showed the value of p value = 0.003 which means the value of p
value <0.05, then H0 was rejected. From the results of the study obtained a relationship between the
ownership of the MCH book with the level of knowledge of pregnant women about the danger signs of
pregnancy in the health center in Mojo, Kediri Regency. It is recommended for pregnant women to
increase interest in reading from the content of the MCH book, especially about the danger signs of
pregnancy. Because by knowing the danger signs of pregnancy can reduce the risk of danger in
pregnancy.
