Date 15aug2019 Justification As part of our strategic sourcing strategy for electronics, there was a new lower cost LCD identified as potential replacement for the current CSM LCD which could also be implemented in the new SPOT4400 product. As part of the initial testing, the R&D team for the SPOT4400 encountered some failures with this new LCD and decided to no longer pursue implementing this LCD. Despite this decision from the R&D team forego this new opportunity Brian Baker was ass investigate the fallure and determine th tential root cause(s) and determine if there was still an opportunity to pursue the significant cost savi Brian exemplified the “Fine.a-Way" attitude by being open minded and spending numeraus hours reviewing allthe previous testing conducted by the R&D team and developing a comprehensive new test plan toidentify the root causes, jost impressively, and worth noti rian had a vacation week planned during the time when he had to complete the testing. Inst jostponing the testing until he returned from vacation, Brian set up a “nanny cam” so that he could continue to monitor the test setup from home, while he was on vacation so as tonot lose any time. Furthermore, while at home on vacation, he noticed that the test setup finaly replicated fallures he had been waiting for. At this point Brian actually came in to the office, despite being o vacation that week, to invest fallures and confirm the root cause. This was great demonstration of extreme ownership!
