IPA Visitors to Region 6 (Kern, Los Angeles, Orange, San Luis
Obispo, Santa Barbara & Ventura counties) need to first obtain the
necessary travel documents through their respective section travel
secretary in order to obtain IPA membership benefits. We offer our
IPA benefits only to IPA members in good standing as verified their
respective travel secretary. We do not offer IPA benefits to persons
who are not active IPA members, even if those persons are
associated with policing services, past or present.

IPA members should not attempt to obtain membership benefits by

trying to directly email any Region 6 Board member until you are
instructed to do so by your travel secretary or receive an email from a
Region 6 officer in response to receipt by us of your approved travel
request. We receive many requests, especially during high travel
periods, so you should plan at least 3 months notice to be sure that
we can assist you.

IPA members may receive discounts at two hotels (Embassy Suites

and the Hacienda) near the LA International Airport by identifying
themselves as IPA members when making reservations and by
presenting their IPA membership credentials at the time of
check-in. These discounts are for IPA members only in good
standing at the time they are made.

For those planning on visiting "Los Angeles" you need to understand

the immense area that is covered. "Los Angeles" not only includes the
City of Los Angeles, but the "Los Angeles/Orange County"
metropolitan that area has a population of almost 13 million, covering
4,850 square miles (12,561,441square km). More detailed information

While popular television and movies often focus on "Los Angeles" city,
there are over 150 independent cities in the metropolitan area, with
over 200 different city, county, state, and federal law enforcement
agencies. The largest are the Los Angeles Police Department, and
Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, but they are not the only
ones.
The immense area and the population often make short distances of
travel very lengthy, especially during heavy commuting times. This
should be taken into account for any plans you make to visit our many
attractions, beaches, parks, mountain resorts, historical areas,
museums, and so on.
