Fifteen regions of Spain have distinet and varied performing traditions, employing unique instruments, languages, voral styles, and danees. Tt's estimated that there are more than 1000 choreographed folk dances in Spain, each with ils corresponding music. But of all the nationalistic traditions of this culture, it’s the bullfight, with its elaborate ritual and eeremony, that has inspired the most passion. Music, of eoursc, is a central part of the festivities, and “La Virgen de la Macarena” (loosely meaning “The Maiden of Seville’) is traditional bullcing music. The pieco features virtuoso solo trumpet playing in a Spanish tradition, imitating the fiery, florid vocal music of the eulture.
