Scotland Yard Police Report – Jack The Ripper

I wish to report on the 1888 Whitechapel murders. It has come to my attention that a string of murders
have been committed by a man known by the name “Jack The Ripper”, a name given because of a letter
supposedly addressed by the killer, likely a hoax. Mary Ann Nichols, Annie Chapman, Elizabeth Stride,
Catherine Eddowes, and Mary Jane Kelly are the victims we know of his crimes so far. We haven’t been
able to find and identify the killer, because he manages to slither away from each crime scene without a
single trace. From how the victims have been mutilated, however, we can see the that the killer would
have needed to have some sort of anatomical or surgical knowledge to carry out his murders, meaning
he could have been a surgeon, butcher, barber, or none of those occupations. The public has shown a
strong distress surrounding these murders. Many have criticised police and detectives for the lack of
result from their investigations and are calling for more to be done.
