Reading Interest and Attitude Surveys are an easy way to get to know more about your

students as readers throughout the year. Click here to find out how I use them with my students!

Reading attitude surveys provide valuable information about your students’ feelings about
reading and themselves as readers. Administering the survey at the beginning of the year
provides you with a baseline so you can ideally improve students’ attitudes about reading
throughout the year. The surveys also allow for teachers to reflect on their instruction and
better plan to meet students’ needs. Hopefully by providing target instruction on reading
strategies your students’ attitudes will improve as they gain confidence as readers.
