Class Assignment - History of Photography

Directions You may choose to work on your own or work with a partner. You will choose from a
list of topics on the worksheets below or on Schoology. You must:

Create a Google Slide or PowerPoint

Choose a topic off the list
Must use images and site work
Submit the assignment on Schoology
File saved appropriately. Do not send me the link to the google slide. Download the PowerPoint
and submit.
If you do not have a laptop you can create a timeline with poster board in class

An informative Title page (group members, date, class block and image of process, inventor
or camera)

1. Key dates, names, and places that relate to your topic

- Who is the inventor or what is the invention?
- When was the invention created?
- OR What date was the inventor born? Where was he born? What other
relevant information can you give about the inventor’s background
- What was the location where the invention was created?
- Why was the invention created?
2. All information written in your own words--fewer words are better.
3. Give me the Who, What, When, Where and Why?
- What did the inventor create this product?
- What was the inventor trying to see in their pictures?
- Did the inventor work with anyone on their invention?
4. The historical significance of your topic
- Why is this person or event important in the history of photography?
- How has it impacted photography? The invention or the inventor?
- External factors which influenced their work? Examples could include war,
political/social movements like civil rights, migrant workers, women's rights,
environmental movement
- What photo techniques are used in their work?
5. Lots of visuals that help explain your topic (photographs, diagrams, videos, etc.)
6. A sources slide which lists 3+ reliable sources used
7. Equal effort from each partner in preparation and presentation
8. Description of your topic(what can you teach the class about your inventor, Process
or Camera?)
9. If you have an invention, Are there any advantages or disadvantages?
