The Croods (summary)
The croods are caveman, they are strong but naïve and were the last kind of their own, before there
was Gorts, Horks, Erf and Torgs at their neighborhood. Grug the head of the family and ugga his
wife, Eep their eldest daughter and thunk her brother, sandy the youngest daughter.
one night while the rest of the family were sleeping, Eep slip over the night, to follow that new
"thing" and that was the night were she met Guy the last of his kind too.
Guy the smart but weak. Guy saw the tomorrow that the world will end. So his mission is to go to
that certain high mountain the he saw at his dream, but when the surface shaken the cave of the
croods were smashed. And they were forced to go somewhere else. That is why they were trapped
in the open field with the deadly carnivorous birds. Then Eep signaled for help of Guy because
they were targeted by that birds, so Guy used his ideas and introduced the “fire” to the croods.
Then through the following days guy was kept captivated by the croods because grug is outsmarted
by guy.
The croods were passing through sharpened little rocks and since guy was on his boots, he can
walk through the rocky plains that gives his chance to escape. But he didn’t do it. Instead guy
helped the croods to cross the rocks in conditions that he will be freed from his captivation.
After walking and walking all through the day the croods has been close to guy except for grug,
grug is enraged to guy because eep more closer to guy than to his own father. Until such that grug
must get the attention, because all of them was attracted to guy.
Grug acted like he has ideas like guy but it is such an epic fail. Grug just do that because he wants
to say that he can do what guy ‘can do’. But realizes his mistake. And grug became closer to guy
and his family. But then the earth’s end is rapidly coming. They were at the foot of the highest
mountain when grug wants to go to the cave because he said “it is dangerous out there” but the
croods doesn’t want to go because they pick guy whom they follow.
Grug pick fight with guy, until they’ve trapped themselves into pool of tar. There grug and guy
teamed up to get out of the pool. When moment they get out of there, the time is up for the
ending, they have to go to the peak to ride the sun to go to tomorrow. But didn’t get any nearer to
their goal, so grug went throwing them to the other side. Grug was out of time he can’t cross the
other side, so he went to the cave and there he met his the green big cat who went chasing them
the past days. It is so happen that cat was afraid of the dark so it as like suspension bridge effect.
The first time grug ever think of his own idea is when he is in the cave with the cat. He was
glorious, he made air transportation out of the bones, tar, birds and fire to manipulate the direction.
And he enabled to rescue the rest of acquainted to their family.
Grug successfully cross the other side. The others were waiting for him there. The other side, it
was beautiful, the beach, the forest and mountains to live on, it was paradise. And the end.
Reflection
The croods were like us naïve and even then the wise makes their mistakes. The croods may be
primitive at their appearance but we are just alike to them.
I’ll wait for my “guy” who will be my companion in this journey. And together finishing it until
the end. The whole story was alike to our journey imagine the struggles, the quarrels and fun of
companionship. This all, can be more truthful if we help each other, the croods shows us the
unrevealed character of humans which is our peculiarity.
Our uniqueness will distinguish us from our mission here on earth. The reasons we continue to
live. That our peculiarity determines our personal characterization, credentials may differ but our
goal is alike.
Due to this characterization we can recognized what we need in companionship. And in this we
may find our partner for life.
Through life’s struggles and torments, in order to survive, we have to be open ourselves to the
happenings around us. And adding adaptation to change our perspectives in living. These may
oppose your daily life routine but it is good that you are prepared.
The croods learned this acceptance to themselves and through that acceptance they have changed.
Though we are not totally changed but we can manage to do things right after all.
Lesson

“Teamwork always work”

- Teamwork always work, the collaboration between you and other members will give you
such skills on understanding others. By the means of your cooperation work or tasks will
be done soon. In our life we need each other in order to continue living, there is saying
goes like this ‘no man is an island’ in this world everybody must have companion into
journeying this unknown tomorrow.
- Just like the croods they guy as there companion, what if guy was not with them what
will happen to the croods?
- ‘Man has no ability to gain wisdom’ according to philosophy. By this alone man would
need fellowship.
“Believe in yourself”
- Believing in yourself gives you additional force, to do something or anything. Believing
is the key to solve your self-esteem problem. If anything goes turn up and down,
believing in yourself will make you harder and bolder.
“Never be afraid”- grug
- Being afraid is not the right thing to do if you know that you can do it. Doing such thing,
you must have a full courage and strengths to oppose it.
- But being afraid is not always the way. There will be a situation that even you have all
the courage and strengths you can’t do anything. That situation that you can’t prepare for.
- I choose to this because I lack of ‘sense of what and when’ of being strong and coward. I
choose this is only I can hear from my parents when I was little and until now I am still
scared off.
“Acceptance”
- Acceptance is the second phase of forgiving. Just as to be humane. Forgiveness must
extended to all, as our savior has done to us. Acceptance is self-assurance, it is better this
way that you be able to assent the situations you are going through.
“People can change through their interactions with others”
- With effort ‘people can change’ through the teaching of time we all learned. Time or our
experience, who teach us the way to that goal.
