DULY PERFORMED REQUIREMENTS (DP)

To achieve duly performed (DP) status and have an opportunity to write and pass the final
examination you must have written the class test or complete the valuation assignment.
See below if you miss the test.
Students who do not meet this requirement will be assigned the classification DPR (Duly
Performed Refused) and will not be permitted to write the final examination. This rule
applies to all students registered for 2019 and repeating students are not exempt from
these requirements.

What if I miss the test?

Where you have been officially exempted from a test (a valid medical certificate or by
obtaining an official leave of absence from the Department of Economics) your final mark
will be calculated on the final exam and valuation assignment and possibly your class
participation mark.

You may be asked to write a make-up test. Alternatively you will be required to do a
valuation assignment. The assumption is made that students work consistently and except
for the misfortune of illness, they would have written the test. To ensure that the medical
exemption system is not abused the following policy is strictly applied:

The original medical certificates must be handed in within 7 (seven) working days
after the date of the test.

Students please ensure that the following are clearly written on your medical
certificate: Name and Surname, Student number, Your signature, Course code &
course name of missed test, Date of missed test.

Once all of the above details are written on the certificate, hand your certificate in to
Yasmina Charles at the School of Economics on the 3rd floor. Please also scan a copy
and forward to carlos.dejesus@uct.ac.zaThe medical certificate must state that the
student was incapacitated on the date of the test.

Note that the production of a medical certificate will not necessarily be sufficient to
secure granting of an exemption for the applicable term test(s). All students who miss
a term test may be required to take a make-up test, whether written or oral

It is your responsibility to ensure that we have received and recorded your class test
exemption. Failure to comply with this policy will result in a mark of zero being awarded
and possible having your DP refused. Please note that these rules only apply to class tests
and not to any other coursework required for admission to the final examination.
